PENNING ON GLASS 2 Day Workshop - Saturday & Sunday July 19-20, 20 14

2 DAY - WEEKEND WORKSHOP Saturday and Sunday

Prerequesite: Basic Fusing Knowledge

TIMES:  SATURDAY 9:00AM – 4:00PM AND SUNDAY 9:00AM – 1:00PM

If you think that you cannot draw.....this class is for you! We will demystify the process of doing pen and ink on glass and do several different types of penning on glass with vitreous paint. You will mix your paint, make a custom penning bridge, learn how to break-in a pen nib correctly, pen on abraded and non-abraded glass. You will also learn several ways to apply shading to your penned work. This really is a "YES YOU CAN" workshop!

Instructor Profile:

Karen has been working professionally in glass since 1981. She has been invited to show at the Bullseye Connections Gallery, Portland, OR, and accepted in exhibits curated by the past directors of the Smithsonian Museum and Pilchuck Glass. Her work has been requested by the Whitehouse and is now in the archival collection. She also teaches regularly at John C Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN.

Use of all tools, materials and firings are included. We will have a 45 minute break for lunch. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch or to make a quick visit to one of the local restaurants. Wear comfortable cotton clothing - No open toe shoes or sandals.

Unless otherwise noted, you must be at least 14 years old to participate in a workshop. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is also enrolled in the same class. All students will be required to sign a HFC® issued liability release form.
